How the Auction Process Works:
1. Initial Consultation
A phone call or email consultation with a member of our knowledgeable sales team.
2. Sign the Auction Contract
Complete and sign our Auction Contract and ship it with the items, fax it to us, bring it with the items or we'll bring it with us to the pick-up.
3. Bring Your Items to Sanibel Auction
Drop-Off: Bring your items to our drop-off location at 2431 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel, FL 33957.
4. Auction Preparation
We research and photograph your items and write the ad copies. Advertisements are placed.
5. Auction Day
We will contact you via email the week before the auction to let you know the schedule. Auction day is the culmination of many weeks of work behind the scenes. It brings together the items and the buyers in a dynamic live auction format, with live internet bidding on most auctions.
6. Collect the Money and Deliver Items to Buyers
7. Pay the Seller and Report Results
Once the money is collected from the auction and the buyers are satisfied with their purchases, we mail you a check along with a detailed sales report.
Commission Rates:
Commission rates on large collections, estates and business liquidations are negotiable based on the quantity and quality of the items being offered and the amount of work involved in preparing the items for auction. Please email for an initial consultation. We usually charge a flat commission rate, and the seller normally pays the advertising and moving costs.
General consignment auctions are for sellers who don't have enough merchandise to have their own auction, which is generally less than $5,000.
Sanibel Auction charges a flat commission rate of 35% for general consignments. For collections of Militaria, Firearms, Historical Artifacts and/or Coins we charge a flat commission rate of 40%. For an entire consignment auction, we usually pay the advertising costs and the seller normally pays the shipping and/or moving costs.
All commissions and fees are deducted at the end of the process, so you pay nothing upfront. We do not provide insurance coverage on your items while they are in our possession.
Of course, fees are really only half the story. We strongly believe that the most important factors that determine the selling price of an item are the knowledge and reputation of the seller. We earn our commission by achieving the highest selling price possible for you! Our research indicates that we earn most, if not all, of our commission solely from achieving higher than average price targets.
The more information we have about your consignment the greater the sales ability of our auctioneer. Write a little history note on your items, we will definitely make good use of it!
